otto dix... in montreal!

the montreal museum of fine arts (jean-noël desmarais pavillion)
exhibition open from september 24, 2010 - january 2, 2011

otto dix (1891-1969) was a german painter. he was considered a 'degenerate' artist by the nazi regime when hitler was in power. the paintings that he did during world war II were very allegorical, criticizing Nazi beliefs. his artwork was not considered to be artwork. it was scorned on and removed from german museums. today, however, otto dix is considered one of the most important painters of the 20th century.

you can also purchase this hardcover catalogue for 59,99$ (english or french) and have otto dix's works in one book.

i'm just very excited to see the exhibition. as soon as i'll have free time on my hands, i'll definitely step into otto dix's terrifying and beautiful world!
